New Standard UNE-EN 12521:2024 for tables for domestic use

The Centro Tecnológico del Mueble y la Madera (CETEM) informs about the recent acquisition and entry into force of the new regulations UNE-EN 12521:2024, This standard establishes the minimum safety, strength and durability requirements for all types of domestic tables intended for use by adults, including those incorporating glass.

The purpose and scope of application of UNE-EN 12521:2024 includes a series of additional specifications and test methods, described in annexes A and B of the standard. It should be noted that this standard does not apply to office tables and desks, tables for non-domestic use, tables for educational establishments or outdoor tables, for which there are other specific European standards. Similarly, trestle tables are not covered by this standard. It is important to note that, except for the stability tests, UNE-EN 12521:2024 does not provide for the evaluation of the behaviour of the container elements that may form part of the table.
