New UNE-EN 1729-2:2024 Standard for furniture in educational centres: CETEM, qualified to test according to the new regulation.

CETEM announces the implementation of the new standard UNE-EN 1729-2:2024, which replaces UNE-EN 1729-2:2012+A1:2016.

The Furniture and Wood Technology Centre (CETEM) announces the entry into force of the new standard UNE-EN 1729-2:2024, entitled “Furniture. Chairs and tables for educational establishments. Part 2: Safety requirements and test methods”. This standard cancels and replaces UNE-EN 1729-2:2012+A1:2016, establishing the safety requirements and test methods for chairs and tables intended for general educational purposes in educational establishments, including nurseries, childcare institutions and early childhood educational settings.

UNE-EN 1729-2:2024, which has an identical international equivalence with EN 1729-2:2023, applies specifically to tables and chairs used in the educational environment. This document is essential to ensure the safety and durability of furniture used in such contexts, providing a detailed framework for the assessment of these products.

At CETEM, our Finished Furniture Testing Laboratory is fully equipped and prepared to carry out tests under this new regulation. Thanks to our advanced technology and highly qualified staff, we can guarantee that chairs and tables for schools meet the highest standards of safety and quality. This capability reaffirms CETEM’s commitment to innovation and excellence in the educational furniture sector, ensuring that our partners’ and customers’ products comply with the latest and most demanding European regulations.
