The Constanza chair, the Sute collection and ECOrack furniture have triumphed at the 29th CETEM Design Award
El concurso de diseño de mobiliario industrial más longevo de España ha celebrado esta mañana el acto de entrega de premios en las instalaciones de CETEM, donde se ha hecho público el fallo del jurado

Spain’s longest-running industrial furniture design competition held its awards ceremony this morning at the premises of CETEM, the competition’s organising body, where the jury’s decision was announced, revealing the three winning projects for this year’s edition. The competition recognises products developed jointly by designers and companies that set the standard for innovation and sustainability within the furniture and home furnishings sector.
The event was supported by the Mayor of Yecla, Ms M.ª Remedios Lajara, and the Regional Minister for Business, Employment and the Social Economy, Ms María Isabel López Aragón, who were accompanied by the President of CETEM, Mr Pedro Arcas Martínez.
From the 63 entries submitted for this year’s competition, the jury selected the ten most outstanding projects. These finalists were assessed in person at a meeting held last March, at which the winners were chosen. You can find out more about the finalist projects on CETEM’s YouTube channel and social media.
The first prize, worth €4,000 and accompanied by a certificate, went to the Constanza chair, created by Isist Atelier and designed jointly by Miguel Milá and his son Gonzalo Milá. The chair is crafted from rattan and leather and stands out for its curved structure, aesthetic beauty and unrivalled comfort.
The second prize in the competition, worth €2,000 and accompanied by a certificate, went to the Sute, lighting collection by the Navarran studio Baku Barrikupel designed jointly by Jesús Prieto and Amaia Prieto. The project is based on the reuse of fire extinguishers to create unique lamps, serving as an exemplary demonstration of the circular economy.
And the third prize, worth €1,000 and accompanied by a certificate, went to the ECOrack, project, submitted by Somos Jumat and designed by Juan Pedro Gutiérrez Giracca. It is a modular system made from high-strength, sustainable cardboard tubes. Capable of supporting 50 kg per shelf, it stands out as a fresh, versatile and sustainable solution.
In this edition, given the high quality of the entries, the jury decided to award a runner-up prize to Khama, from the Yecla-based company Ecus Sleep, a modular mattress that allows users to replace its components and customise the firmness of each sleeping zone.
The jury responsible for selecting the winners of this year’s competition comprised a high-calibre multidisciplinary panel bringing together six perspectives from professionals in the worlds of design, innovation and the furniture sector, including Miguel Leiro, winner of the 2025 National Design Award; Francisco de los Reyes Martínez, crafts coordinator at DIP Murcia; Marta Alonso, co-founder of Mayice Studio; Esther Castaño, CEO of SANCAL, a company awarded the 2024 National Design and Business Award; Marta Ayala, winner of the Injuve Award and an expert in conceptual design; and José Francisco Puche, director of CETEM.
Several members of the judging panel have shared their impressions and explained the final decision:
Miguel Leiro: “The standard was very high, with a clear commitment to sustainability and the circular economy standing out as the main conceptual pillars.”
Marta Ayala: “The Constanza chair is a design that meets all the criteria of an exceptional piece. It combines functionality, comfort and great attention to detail, and stands out particularly for the beauty and harmony it conveys as a whole. The Sute collection highlights the courage to propose new approaches within the world of design, with proposals that bring us closer to ideas of circularity and new ways of thinking about objects in a more responsible and innovative manner.”
Marta Alonso: “ECOrack is a fresh, innovative and versatile design. It deserves support and recognition to continue its development and research. For its part, Khama is an innovative contribution to the market, whose functionality and ease of maintenance represent a further step forward for this product”.
Once again, the CETEM Design Award continues to prove itself as one of the leading competitions, not only at a national level but also reaching many parts of the world. CETEM’s commitment is reaffirmed as a bridge between the creativity of designers and companies in the furniture industry. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the sponsors who have made it possible to hold another edition of the award: Yecla Town Council, Grupo SIM, the Institute for the Promotion of the Region of Murcia and the Association of Design and Advertising Communication Professionals of the Region of Murcia (DIP).
CETEM will soon be launching the call for entries for the 30th CETEM Design Award, a special edition celebrating three decades of excellence in design and innovation, which is sure to hold some big surprises for the sector.
