CETEM promotes English language learning in the furniture sector with FURNICERT

Workers, teachers and students participated in the final FURNICERT event to present the main results of this European project.

Nowadays, more and more people are taking the time to study English as a second language. Whether you are looking for a new job or planning to travel the world, studying English can help you progress in your professional and personal life. At FURNICERT we know that it is essential to know the specific jargon of each sector and the furniture and woodworking industry has a myriad of terms and vocabulary that is not always in the books.

FURNICERT is an Erasmus+ initiative that offers professional language training adapted to the furniture sector through a digital platform. Its main objective is to provide employees with a B1/B2 level English proficiency. The course curriculum consists of eleven units focusing on furniture-related topics, supported by an additional unit dedicated to the development of interpersonal skills. Each unit is further divided into smaller lessons to improve accessibility and ease of use. The learning material is available in a variety of formats, such as videos, articles, interactive presentations and glossaries. The holistic nature of the content and its impact on grammar, vocabulary, listening, reading and comprehension skills is ensured.

Thanks to the support of the European Commission and the work of different partners from Poland, Greece and Spain, this European project has now completed all the results after two years of work. For this reason, CETEM brought together students and teachers from the furniture sector for the closing day of the project on 12 June.

During the event, participants discussed different challenges and opportunities in English language learning in the furniture sector, as well as the main innovations and practices developed by the FURNICERT project, including new certification and learning methodologies. In addition, participants had the opportunity to see a demonstration of the functioning of the FURNICERT platform developed at LOS GLOBOS and with free access.
