The objective of the project is to carry out an exhaustive analysis of the factors involved in the edge gluing process, usually carried out in the furniture and wood sector, from the scientific perspective of adhesion in order to develop new adhesive formulations. and suitable surface treatments for said application.

Main activities
• Study the influence of substrate properties on the final adhesion properties obtained for glued joints.
• Study the influence of hot melt adhesive formulation on the adhesion properties of glued edge joints.
Expected results:
Determine the causes of the frequent delaminations that frequently occur in glued edges commonly used in the furniture sector.
Establish the dominant adhesion mechanisms in the gluing process.
Design and formulate adhesives as well as surface treatments that prevent delamination of glued edges.
