Expected results:
To provide a sustainable solution to the abundant generation of waste generated during furniture manufacturing processes, especially in the machining and cutting operations of boards by means of additive manufacturing technologies based on the fused deposition modelling technique.
To generate knowledge of the different processes and technologies involved in the development and creation of a new thermoplastic-based composite material in filament form suitable for use in additive manufacturing machines based on the FFF/FDM model.
Generate knowledge through the characterisation of the different processes by establishing their variables and optimal parameters in the production of the material.
Validation of the material by means of different tests at different scales, both in its implementation in production through the different additive manufacturing equipment, as well as the mechanical behaviour properties of the material in the final part.
Increase knowledge on additive manufacturing technologies, in particular those based on the FFF/FDM model, as well as on technologies linked to the reuse and recycling of waste.
To acquire knowledge about the influence of different wastes on the thermoplastic matrix both in the production of the composite material and in its use for the creation of new products.
Improving the sustainability of the habitat and additive manufacturing sectors.
Raise environmental awareness by bringing companies closer to a sustainable zero resource strategy and the concept of circular economy.
Transfer of knowledge to companies on the possibilities, advantages, and limitations regarding the recycling of waste generated during the manufacture of furniture.
