The CETEM Design Awards jury has been formed, comprising experts of the highest calibre, and is now entering the final stretch before the closing date for entries

This 29th edition promises to be one of the most inspiring and demanding to date. 

The new edition of the international design awards ‘CETEM Design Awards’ is entering its decisive phase: with just a few days to go before the closing date for entries on 30 December, CETEM can now officially confirm the panel of experts who, in March 2026, will select the winners of one of the most prestigious awards in the sector. An exceptional jury, featuring national and international leaders in design, innovation and industry, is preparing to evaluate the finalist projects with a rigorous, diverse and deeply transformative approach.

 

THE JURY FOR THE 29TH EDITION: SIX PERSPECTIVES THAT WILL SHAPE THE FUTURE OF DESIGN

 

Miguel Leiro

An industrial designer trained at the Pratt Institute in New York and winner of the 2025 National Design Award in the young professionals category. His work is characterized by material experimentation, a multidisciplinary approach, and the creation of platforms such as Office of Design and the Mayrit biennial, which are key to promoting new voices in Spanish design.

 

Sancal

Winner of the 2024 National Design and Business Award, a global benchmark in contemporary furniture. With more than fifty years of experience, it stands out for its concept of “happy products,” its presence in more than ninety countries, and a cross-cutting design model that integrates creativity, innovation, and artistic direction with international impact.

 

Mayice Studio

Studio founded in 2015 by Imanol Calderón Elósegui and Marta Alonso Yebra, renowned for its work in product design and architecture, where craftsmanship and technology interact naturally. Its approach is based on absolute respect for fine materials, their history, functionality, and ability to stand the test of time.

 

Marta Ayala

A designer from Cordoba with a studio in Poblenou (Barcelona), known for her functional, conceptual furniture with a strong material presence. Her career combines collaborations with studios such as Ciszak Dalmas, the Injuve Award received in 2013, and the creation of pieces that reflect on identity, society, and the environment. She combines industrial and artisanal processes with her own distinctive and powerful style.

 

Juana Valcárcel

Industrial Design Engineer graduated from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, with international experience and specialization in upholstered furniture technologies at CETEM. Comprehensive designer, project manager, and teacher at the IES Politécnico de Cartagena, she also stands out as president of dip, the Association of Design and Advertising Communication Professionals of the Region of Murcia.

 

José Francisco Puche

Director of CETEM since 2005, engineer with experience in automotive, innovation, and industrial development. His leadership as president of the jury in the competition has continued since its inception, bringing a strategic and technological vision to the evaluation process.

 

This 29th edition promises to be one of the most inspiring and demanding to date. With the call for projects open until December 30, CETEM invites design professionals to join a competition that, year after year, becomes a platform for visibility, opportunity, and international exposure.
