LittleGuardian, CETEM’s new project that aims to manage the health of pigs and cattle
A device will enable the monitoring of animal welfare and health, tracking vital signs and potential infections in real time using advanced health analysis algorithms.

CETEM is launching a new project aimed at improving health monitoring in pig and cattle farming. The project, called LittleGuardian, seeks to create and validate a comprehensive, intelligent system for managing the welfare, health and sustainability of these animals. The device will integrate hardware, firmware and advanced analytics (ML) to provide real-time alerts and support decision-making related to animal care.
The project aims to develop an intravaginal device containing advanced health analysis algorithms that will enable the assessment of animal health in females for the early detection of diseases, continuous monitoring of vital signs and tracking of the evolution of possible infections in their early stages. To this end, field trials will be key, as they will enable us to understand, for example, how transport journeys affect animal health.
Littleguardian is developed by Agrovalle, an Argentine company dedicated to covering agricultural activity, VISAVET, the Veterinary Health Surveillance Centre of the Complutense University of Madrid, and VPD, an animal production veterinary services company, in collaboration with CETEM. This strategic alliance brings together extensive knowledge of the livestock sector and the technology industry, forming a perfect symbiosis in the search for new horizons in the area of animal welfare.
