IMPERTEX

Fecha de inicio: 07 Mar 2007 Fecha de finalización prevista: 21 Oct 2009

The objective of the project is to develop a covering system for fabrics commonly used in the furniture sector that waterproofs said fabrics, without modifying the rest of the properties of the textile, to facilitate the upholstery process by casting polyurethane on fabric in a mold.

Main activities

• Define the most suitable polymeric systems to achieve the proposed objectives.
• Develop coating formulations potentially suitable for use in coating textiles.
• Evaluate the waterproofing capacity of treated textiles against the upholstery process by casting polyurethane in a mold.
• Validate treated textiles for use in furniture.
• Obtaining final prototypes.

Expected results:

1

Development of a surface coating for textile materials used in upholstered furniture that allows these fabrics to be incorporated into the upholstery process by direct foaming on in-mold fabric.

2

Know the influence of the surface coating on the properties of the textile fabric.

3

Determine the viability of the upholstery process by direct foaming on in-mold textiles using waterproofed fabrics.
