Advancing Applied Biotechnology for Sustainable Innovation in Wood, Textile and Furniture in Higher Education.The main objective of the BIOWISE aims to support and boost the transition to bio-based materials in the wood, textile, and furniture industries by equipping learners with cutting-edge applied biotechnological knowledge and skills, thus integrating the principles of the bioeconomy and the circular economy into higher education to reduce dependence on fossil resources, align industrial production with climate adaptation and nurture a new generation of transdisciplinary researchers, entrepreneurs and innovators.

Results to be achieved:

A biotechnology knowledge and skills report and framework co-designed between academia and key industrial players in the wood, textile and furniture sectors.

A training program in biotechnology applied to wood, textiles and furniture with educational resources for teachers and a digital learning hub.

A laboratory manual with exercises on applied biotechnology skills in the wood, textiles and furniture industries to foster hands-on learning approaches.
