WENUS enters its final phase, promoting new green and digital skills for sustainable timber construction
The WENUS project is drawing to a close after strengthening the role of the circular economy and new technologies in training related to woodworking and construction

The European WENUS project – ‘Wood Education for Sustainable Construction’ – is entering its final phase after two years of work aimed at improving vocational training in the field of sustainable timber construction.
WENUS has brought together organisations from Germany, Spain, Slovenia and Poland with a common aim: to equip vocational training students and teachers with the knowledge and skills required by the green and digital transition in the timber construction sector.
The project stems from a specific need: to strengthen the role of the circular economy and new technologies in training programmes related to woodworking and construction. To this end, WENUS combines content on sustainability, the efficient use of resources, sustainable design and circularity with technologies such as 3D printing, with the aim of making training more practical and better aligned with developments in the sector
Among the project’s key outcomes is the development of a joint training curriculum for sustainable timber construction, accompanied by educational materials and resources aimed at both vocational training students and teachers. The programme addresses issues such as the fundamentals of the circular economy, the environmental benefits of timber, resource efficiency, sustainable design, innovative technologies and various case studies.

All of this content is also integrated into an e-learning platform designed to facilitate flexible and accessible learning. The platform is one of the project’s key legacies and will provide access to the course and the training resources that have been developed.
As the WENUS project draws to a close, it has also focused on ensuring the continuity and utilisation of its results. The project has been designed so that its resources will continue to be used once funding has ended, including the joint curriculum, training materials, the teachers’ guide and the e-learning platform.
