TourXpeRience publishes the report ‘Market Trends and Skills in the Tourism Sector’, an overview of sustainable tourism and the skills of the future

TourXpeRience, co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme, presents its report ‘Market Trends and Skills in the Tourism Sector’, a comprehensive analysis of tourism market trends, the most sought-after green and digital skills, and the role of XR (Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality) technologies in vocational training in the sector.

Document D2.1, ‘Market Trends and Skills in the Tourism Sector,’ provides a comprehensive overview of the research and mapping results developed in Work Package 2 (WP2) of TourXpeRience, led by the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Sustainable Technologies.

The report examines the current landscape of sustainable tourism education, the development of green skills, the integration of XR technologies into Vocational Education and Training (VET), and the identification of skills gaps in the tourism labour market. Based on these findings, evidence-based recommendations are formulated for educational institutions, policy makers and companies in the sector, with the aim of adapting to the digital and ecological transitions that will shape the future of tourism.

TourXpeRience is an innovative initiative that seeks to promote entrepreneurial teaching and learning geared towards excellence in professional tourism training. Its main objective is to equip students and teachers with new digital and sustainable skills, encouraging the adoption of XR tools (VR, AR and MR) to modernise educational practices and strengthen employability in a sector undergoing rapid transformation.
