The INSET project consortium meets in Sassuolo

The meeting served to advance the development of the INSET Online Observatory and the project’s Policy Brief

The INSET project held another meeting on 10 and 11 March in Sassuolo (Italy), a region renowned for its expertise in the ceramics industry. The meeting took place at the premises of Confindustria Ceramica, bringing together the project partners to discuss the next steps in the various work streams.

During the meeting, particular attention was paid to defining the next stages of development for the INSET Online Observatory, which will be set up as an open-access platform to bring together various resources related to Industrial Symbiosis. This observatory will include key documents such as scientific articles, reports, regulations and other relevant materials designed to improve knowledge and raise awareness of this approach. To date, the consortium has already identified more than 130 resources that will form part of this knowledge base.

In addition, the observatory will include a stakeholder map, which will help to identify and highlight the various players working in the field of industrial symbiosis in Europe, thereby facilitating connections between businesses, research centres, educational institutions and policymakers.

The meeting also served to advance work on the project’s Policy Brief (WP5), which will be drawn up over the coming months with the aim of proposing policy recommendations that support the effective integration of industrial symbiosis and facilitate its implementation by businesses and public authorities.

Finally, the project partners had the opportunity to visit the premises of Marazzi, one of the leading companies in the ceramics sector in Italy and in the Sassuolo region, which gave them a first-hand insight into the industrial landscape of the area and its potential for developing initiatives linked to industrial symbiosis.
