In a joint effort to promote Industrial Symbiosis and move towards circularity and sustainability in the European business fabric, the INSET project has been launched with the financial support of the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme.
The project, led by a consortium of leading institutions and organisations, aims to build capacity through an innovative training programme that leverages digital tools to drive Industrial Symbiosis. This approach aims to catalyse business transformation towards more sustainable and circular practices.
The partners have mapped out a list of outcomes for efficient Sustainable Transformation:
- Capacity building methodology: INSET intends to design and implement a capacity building methodology that will act as a driver for the widespread adoption of Industrial Symbiosis in various companies and sectors.
- Online toolkit: a set of four innovative digital tools will form an online toolkit, aimed at increasing knowledge and awareness of Industrial Symbiosis. These tools will provide valuable resources to facilitate the integration of sustainable practices into the business fabric.
- Open access observatory: an observatory accessible to all will be established, containing crucial information on Industrial Symbiosis, including relevant legislation, training courses and other relevant resources.
- Policy brief: identification of the current challenges of the information society in relation to Industrial Symbiosis. This document will address policy makers, providing key insights to inform strategic decisions in the pursuit of sustainable development.
The project has renowned partners throughout Europe, such as the University of Strasbourg (France), Simbiosy (Spain), Syxis (Lithuania), Regional Development Agency of the Podravje region (Slovenia), Sistemi Formativi Confindustria (Italy), CETEM (Spain).
