CETEM’s Gender Equality Plan receives recognition from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC)

CETEM is awarded for its Equality Plan as the best Master’s Final Project in Sustainability and Social Responsibility Management with a gender perspective.

The Furniture and Wood Technology Centre (CETEM) has been awarded for its Equality Plan as the best Master’s Degree Final Project in Sustainability and Social Responsibility Management with a gender perspective, highlighting the work of the researcher María Sánchez Melero with her ‘Management Plan for Equal Opportunities for Women and Men’.

This award highlights the importance of integrating gender equality into company policies, a crucial aspect these days as companies seek to create inclusive and equitable work environments. Equality plans not only promote equity between women and men, but also contribute to the creation of healthier and more productive organisational cultures. Implementing an equality plan is essential to ensure that all employees, regardless of gender, have equal opportunities for development, promotion and pay. It also reflects a company’s commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), aligning with international sustainability and human rights standards.

The award was presented on 19 November 2024 at an event held at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) in Barcelona, where the best final master’s degree projects of the 2023-2024 academic year were awarded. The winning work was presented by María Sánchez Melero, a technician in CETEM’s International Projects department. Her contribution highlights the inclusive and strategic approach of the centre, which has developed a comprehensive plan that seeks not only to comply with legal requirements, but also to promote equality in all operational aspects of the organisation.

This recognition not only highlights CETEM’s commitment to gender equality, but also reinforces its leadership in implementing responsible and sustainable business practices.
