Empowering women 45+: international HERA project officially launched
HERA combines Innovation Hubs, Living Labs and Mutual Aid Groups, creating a people-centred and self-sustaining support system that will enable women to take control of their career transitions.

In the framework of the European policy experimentation call of the Erasmus+ programme, an innovative project aimed at empowering women over 45 years of age through re-skilling and lifelong learning is officially launched this March 2025.
The project, called HERA, aims to increase the participation of women aged 45 and over in adult education, fostering inclusion, social cohesion and economic growth in the face of the challenges posed by the digital and ecological transitions. Through the creation of local ecosystems, known as HERA Labs, the project will establish collaborative environments where women, together with representatives from the public and private sectors, can assess their skills, co-design tailored training pathways and prepare for jobs in sectors with skills shortages.
HERA’s methodology combines Innovation Hubs, Living Labs and Mutual Support Groups, creating a people-centred and self-sustaining support system that will enable women to take control of their career transitions. These local ecosystems will be piloted in seven regions across Europe, bringing together women seeking employment or career change, educational institutions, business leaders, policy makers and community organisations.
In order to scale up its impact, the project will develop a virtual Community Portal using artificial intelligence technology. This online platform will offer personalised skills assessments, career guidance and access to further training opportunities, ensuring that the benefits of the project extend beyond the initial pilot regions.
