CETEM reinforces its commitment to Industrial Symbiosis in Maribor

INSET continues to make steady progress in international cooperation to build a more sustainable future.

This week, CETEM travelled to Maribor (Slovenia) to participate in the third face-to-face meeting of the INSET project consortium, an ambitious European effort that aims to equip organisations with practical tools to implement Industrial Symbiosis.

The team, made up of partners from different parts of Europe, discussed the progress of the resources that will be available soon:

  • A training course structured in two thematic areas, aimed at both managers and planners of industrial symbiosis.
  • A web application designed to integrate and facilitate access to the course.
  • A compilation manual including ten international good practices for the implementation of Industrial Symbiosis.
  • A practical guide to organise sessions to connect and identify synergies between companies and sectors.

All these resources, which will be ready by next summer, are designed to respond to the real needs of organisations and support their transition towards more sustainable and collaborative models.

One of the most enriching moments of the meeting took place in the industrial area of Cona Tezno, an area with a unique history, as it was used as an underground warehouse during the Second World War. There, the consortium members were able to meet with a group of local stakeholders, who shared their experiences and needs in terms of sustainability and innovation. This dialogue allowed to validate the progress of the project and to adapt the tools to the specific challenges of the companies in the region.

CETEM, as an active part of the consortium, reaffirms its commitment to Industrial Symbiosis, convinced that these tools will be key to fostering more responsible, efficient and collaborative production models across Europe.

The INSET project continues to make steady progress, and this meeting in Maribor is a clear example of the power of international cooperation to build a more sustainable future.
