Active Ageing

Active Ageing involves several activities and practices promoting physical, mental and social well-being of older people. These may include regular physical activity, healthy diet, maintaining social connections and taking part in community activities. It may also involve lifelong learning, taking up new hobbies and exploring new experiences by new technologies.

Intelligent environments

In terms of active ageing, the Electronics and Home Automation Area has been working since its consolidation both on developing new functionalities in conventional furniture and on ICT solutions that support an independent, active and healthy ageing at home, at work and in society.

Qualified training

Within its training programmes, this Area designs and develops lifelong learning activities covering key topics so as to develop new products and services for adult population. Such topics include implementing user-centred design principles and involving older people and their caregivers in the product design and developing process, achieving a better understanding of their needs and preferences, improving the usability of such products and services, as well as their acceptance.
