CETEM moderates a workshop on Industrial Symbiosis in the framework of LIAISE project

CETEM moderated the workshop ‘Industrial Symbiosis: Challenges and Opportunities’ of the LIAISE project, bringing together experts from more than 10 countries to discuss circularity and green technology. The INSET, VINNOVA and AGROMAT projects were presented, highlighting the commitment to sustainable industrial innovation.

On 10 September, the Furniture and Wood Technology Centre (CETEM) moderated the workshop of Working Group 1 of the LIAISE project, under the title ‘Industrial Symbiosis from a Technical Perspective: Challenges and Opportunities’. This event, coordinated by CETEM, brought together almost thirty participants from more than 10 countries, who discussed the integration of circularity and green technology in industries and cities.

Almudena Muñoz, project coordinator, presented the INSET project, in which CETEM has been actively participating since last year. Marta Muñoz, a technician from the Materials Department of the centre, presented the key results derived from CETEM’s participation in two important research projects: VINNOVA and AGROMAT. Both presentations underlined CETEM’s strong commitment to the advancement of sustainable industrial practices through research and collaborative innovation.

The workshop, which is part of the COST LIAISE Action, provided a platform for experts from different fields to discuss innovative solutions and methodologies to promote Industrial Symbiosis (IS). Throughout the day, participants explored advanced tools for resource mapping, as well as for the assessment and technological implementation of IS strategies.

Attendees engaged in a number of interactive sessions, discussing the main challenges and opportunities for integrating circularity into industrial operations. The event succeeded in fostering collaboration between academics, industry leaders and policy makers, with the aim of driving sustainable industrial practices in Europe.
